    REPLACING ANTIBIOTICS BY PHAGES

    Antibiotics are meant for killing gram-positive, gram-negative bacteria but not super-bugs like multiple drug resistant bacteria. Phage therapy is used as the antimicrobial therapy in some countries of Soviet-union in cases of life-threatening infection. This review discusses about utilizing phage therapy in treating infections caused by bacteria. We conclude that phage therapy is the best alternative for treating superbugs like Acinetobacter baumannii, which can’t be treated by using antibiotics.
