  • SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING CUSTOMER WAIT TIME, CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MARKETING EFFICIENCY IN THE RESTAURANT INDUSTRY

A system and method including an Internet preordering system accessible online or onsite at a free-standing kiosk located in or near client properties in which customers may create profiles for the requested services and provide such information to the service provider in advance of the customer's arrival for the requested services. When the customer arrives, the customer identifies himself/herself and the preorder is accessed, verified and/or modified. The preorder is then forwarded to the service provider and the delivery of the service is optimally timed to the readiness of the customer. The customer's profile and preorder information are maintained in a database and used for in-house precision marketing campaigns and cross-promotional opportunities. For example, in a restaurant embodiment, a registered customer is given access to menus and may create menu preferences for a participating restaurant. The registered customer may also make a reservation at a participating restaurant for a party of any size in advance (for example, up to 24 hours) of the reservation time. The food and/or drink preorder for each guest in the party may be completed in advance and maintained on the server, with the reservation time, for access when the party arrives at the designated reservation time. After a verification process, the customer may retrieve the party's preorder, make any desired changes, and then verify the preorder at the kiosk. Once the preorder is verified, the customer may finalize the preorder and proceed to the hostess kiosk where the preorder is accessed by the restaurant staff. Either when the party is seated or at an appropriate time prior to seating (based on a comparison of the seating wait queue to the kitchen wait queue), the preorder is forwarded for preparation so that the ordered food and/or drink arrives shortly after the customer's party is seated.

  • NAVIGATION SYSTEM, ROUTE SEARCH SERVER, ROUTE SEARCH AGENT SERVER, AND NAVIGATION METHOD

In a navigation system, that finds routes and provides navigation extending across countries or regions, navigation is performed for cases in which languages differ in the countries or regions being navigated. The navigation system is equipped with first and second route search servers (30A, 30B), which use first and second areas as service areas, respectively, and a terminal device (20). When the terminal device (20) requests a route search, the system determines the second route search server (30B) with the first route search server (30A) to find and link the routes in the respective areas and to determine a recommended route. If the language used by the route search server is different from the language used by the terminal device (20), the route search server translates words other than key words, such as proper nouns, in the navigation information, which gives the recommended route, into the language used by the terminal device (20) and supplies the translation to the terminal device (20).

  • Location Accuracy Improvement Using a priori Probabilities

A large volume of high accuracy location data is determined in many commercial wireless networks from location based services (LBS) and, in the United States, for E911. Uplink-Time-Difference-of-Arrival (UTDOA) and Assisted GPS (AGPS) are the predominant geolocation technologies providing these high accuracy locations. In the US alone over 10 million wireless subscribers are located every month because they dial the national emergency number "911" on their mobile phones. This rich set of location data provides an a priori distribution of the location of subscribers in the wireless network. All digital wireless communications networks have a mechanism for the subscribers to time synchronize their handsets to the network. This mechanism provides a band of ranges from the serving cell site to the handset. An a posteriori location estimate can be determined very quickly by considering the a priori distribution of callers in the range band that the current subscriber is in.

The optimizer technique can be directed to maximize revenues, profits, or market share. TPO produces a recommended price profile, that can be manipulated in an interactive graphical user interface, and illustrates what price must be charged now, and what prices must be charged later in the booking cycle. Using price sensitive forecasting to estimate how price impacts demand, TPO helps users to maximize revenues, profits, or market share. TPO recommends prices by dated-resources or dated DFUs.
