    A mobile communication system for supporting a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) is provided. More particularly, an apparatus and a method for applying a direct tunnel feature in order to reduce a transmission delay of a mobile communication system for providing an MBMS. The system includes a Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN). The GGSN omits transmission of data to a Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) and transmits data to a Radio Network Controller (RNC) using the direct tunnel feature when transmitting data.

  • SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LOW-LATENCY MULTIMEDIA STREAMING

    Systems and methods for transmitting a multimedia stream over a communication link on a network are disclosed. The systems and methods adaptively adjust encoding parameters based on monitoring changing conditions of the network. A transmitter includes an adaptive-rate encoder that adaptively adjusts a video encoding bit rate in response to changing conditions of the communication link. The encoder maintains tight rate control by utilizing slice processing and sub-frame rate adaptation, as well as maintaining a headroom between the channel bit rate and the video encoding bit rate. The adaptive-rate encoder also embeds intra-frame constraints in predictive frames traffic in order to reduce latency.

    An electronic device includes a wireless communication unit wirelessly communicating with any of a plurality of external devices which each comprise a display, a display displaying content including specific content, an input unit receiving an input for selecting the specific content, and a controller. The controller searches for an external device that is available for communication with the electronic device, establishes communication via the wireless communication unit with a selected first external device, which is one of the plurality of external devices identified as a result of the search for an external device, receives content specification information from the first external device to determine the first external device's capability to display the specific content, and causes displaying of the specific content on the display of the first external device upon determining that the first external device is capable of displaying the specific content based on the content specification information.

  • METHOD AND APPARATUS OF HANDOVER BETWEEN MOBILE TV NETWORKS

    A method and apparatus of switching among mobile television networks are provided in the present invention. By playing a service with the same content synchronously over a number of different networks, if a mobile television terminal moves from a network coverage domain to another network coverage domain during the receiving and playing of the service by the mobile television terminal, the method and apparatus can trigger the mobile television terminal to send a switch request and switch to the current network to continue the receiving and playing of the service, so that the user can get the experience of an almost seamless switching.

  • MOBILE TERMINAL AND METHOD OF DISPLAYING 3D IMAGES THEREON

    A mobile terminal and a method of displaying 3D images thereon are disclosed. A display module in a mobile terminal may include a touchscreen and a controller. The touchscreen may be configured to display a plurality of icons and to receive a touch input that sets a 3D display setting for at least one of the icons. The controller may be configured to set the 3D display setting according to a pattern of the touch input. The touch pattern may determine whether the displayed 3D image of the icon is perceived to project or recede into the touch screen and/or a magnitude of a projection or recession.

The method includes receiving messages from multiple counterpart devices, selecting one or more counterpart devices, each of which supports a requested service, from an identical manufacturer when the messages are received, checking multiple pieces of signal information of the selected counterpart devices when the number of the selected counterpart devices is greater than one, and determining a device having the signal information satisfying set conditions as a final device.

    A Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi) service method and system are provided. A beacon message and probe response message may contain a service information field storing device information. Wi-Fi devices can exchange information on supported functions with each other and one Wi-Fi device may identify functions supported by another Wi-Fi device. Hence, a Wi-Fi connection can be set up through automatic provisioning. The method includes receiving, by a first Wi-Fi device in non-Access Point (AP) mode, messages from nearby Wi-Fi devices operating in AP mode, analyzing a service information field of each received message, determining a second Wi-Fi device that is manufactured by the same manufacturer as the first Wi-Fi device and is capable of supporting a requested service, establishing a connection with the second Wi-Fi device through Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) based on automatic provision, and sending data associated with the requested service to the second Wi-Fi device for a Wi-Fi service.

The functions of the mobile device are controlled according to a user's gestures that are performed on the fog screen.

The digital broadcast receiving performance can be improved even in an inferior multi-path channel by detecting the known data from the received signal and using the known data for synchronization and equalization in a digital broadcast receiver.

The receiving performance of the digital broadcast transmitting/receiving system can be improved even in a multi-path channel by detecting the known data from the received signal and using the known data in synchronization and equalization in a digital broadcast receiver.

    A DTV transmitting system includes a frame encoder, a randomizer, a block processor, a group formatter, a deinterleaver, and a packet formatter. The frame encoder builds an enhanced data frame and encodes the frame two times for first and second error correction, respectively. It further permutes a plurality of encoded data frames. The randomizer randomizes the permuted enhanced data, and the block processor codes the randomized data at a rate of 1/N1. The group formatter forms a group of enhanced data having one or more data regions and inserts the data coded at the rate of 1/N1 into at least one of the data regions. The deinterleaver deinterleaves the group of enhanced data, and the packet formatter formats the deinterleaved data into enhanced data packets.

In addition, the system may comprise broadcast processing circuitry in the mobile terminal that processes VHF/UHF band broadcast services in a single broadcast processor integrated circuit in the mobile terminal. The cellular processing circuitry may communicate with, and share at least a single memory with, the broadcast processing circuitry. The cellular processing circuitry may utilize at least the single memory to request at least a portion of information deliverable via the cellular frequency band communications services for delivery via VHF/UHF band broadcast services.

    While sequentially changing the selected channel, a digital broadcast judgment part collects level value V.sub.W of a signal extracted on a wide band, a bandwidth suitable for reproduction of an analog broadcast, reported from a reproduction processing unit as the level detection result, and a signal level value V.sub.N extracted on a narrow bandwidth of about .DELTA.F for which, in an IBOC system, it is likely that neither a digital nor analog broadcast component is present. This digital broadcast judgment part searches for a channel upon which hybrid broadcasting performed by sequentially judging, for three successive channels, whether the first and second adjacent channel conditions, and a central channel condition are satisfied, only on the basis of the signal level values V.sub.W and V.sub.N. Accordingly, when receiving a radio broadcast according to the IBOC system, it is possible to decide promptly whether or not a digital broadcast is included therein.

    The present invention provides a method of processing data in digital broadcasting system. The method includes receiving a broadcast signal including mobile broadcast service data and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a data group, wherein the data group is divided into a plurality of regions, wherein known data sequences are linearly inserted in some regions among the plurality of regions, and wherein initialization data are inserted at a beginning portion of each known data sequence, the initialization data being used for initializing a memory included in a trellis encoder of a digital broadcast transmitting system, detecting known data included in the received broadcast signal, channel-equalizing the received mobile broadcast service data corresponding to the detected known data, using the detected known data, extracting a video data from the mobile broadcast service data, parsing the extracted video data by a NAL unit and decoding the parsed video data based on header information of the parsed NAL unit.

  • Apparatus for swapping high-speed multimedia signals

    An apparatus for swapping output high-speed multimedia signals. In one embodiment the apparatus comprises a plurality of inputs coupled to a multimedia transmitter; a plurality of outputs coupled to a plurality of pins of a multimedia interface connector; and a controller for generating a control signal for configuring an order in which the plurality of inputs are routed to the plurality of outputs, wherein the order in which the plurality of inputs are routed to the plurality of outputs is set to enable un-crossing of one or more conducting wires coupling the plurality of inputs to the multimedia transmitter and to enable un-crossing of one or more conducting wires coupling the plurality of outputs and the plurality of pins of the multimedia interface connector.

At IP Multimedia Subsystem registration of said access point with the IP Multimedia Subsystem network, the Public User Identities contained in the Implicit Registration Set are distributed to a Serving Call Session Control Function allocated to said access point and to a Proxy Call Session Control Function to which said access point is attached.

The method includes: camping on a predetermined cell by each of the multiple SIM cards; determining whether paging collision occurs between a communication network supported by the predetermined cell on which the portable terminal has camped through a SIM card and another communication network supported by the predetermined cell on which the portable terminal has camped through another SIM card; identifying paging information through a predetermined SIM card among the multiple SIM cards after identifying camp-on information for each SIM card when a result of the determination shows that the paging collision occurs; and performing a paging standby for the communication network in the predetermined camped-on cell by the SIM card corresponding to the identified paging information based on a result of identifying the paging information.

An output stage modulates a carrier signal, such as for a television channel, with the MPTS.
