  • ANATOMY MAP NAVIGATOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE

    Example systems and methods provide anatomy map-based navigation and review of current and historical images and associated evidence. A method for navigating current and reference images and associated evidence includes loading a current image and a reference image for review via a navigator interface based on a time entry selection by a user. One or more markers indicating clinical findings or evidence are registered with at least one of the current image and the reference image. The one or more markers are displayed in conjunction with the current image and the reference image. A synopsis of information associated with a selected marker is provided upon selection of the marker by a user. A user can navigate through image and marker data over time by selecting each of a plurality of time entries to display images and associated markers for user review.

  • METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR SHAREABLE VIRTUAL DEVICES

    An intelligent virtual device, which is a widget, as well as a widget container that allows users and providers to manage the display, layout and navigation of widgets, and which is a part of a distributed infrastructure where users can freely subscribe, embed/publish, and organize a multitude of virtual devices according to their interests.     Personalized navigation for one or more individuals' use of a search engine is provided. Identification of a query submitted to the search engine is performed. If the query is identified to be a personal navigational query, which is a query via which the individuals intend to navigate to a particular site or information object that they have previously viewed, the particular site or information object associated with the query is identified, and results of the search are personalized based on knowledge of the identified site or information object.

    In an in-vehicle navigation apparatus, an in-vehicle BT communications device receives a speech recognition result via a BT communications link from a cellular phone. Based on the received speech recognition result, an in-vehicle control circuit outputs a talk-back sound about the speech recognition result via an in-vehicle sound output device.

  • SPEED LIMIT CHANGE NOTIFICATION

    Techniques are described that may be implemented in a mobile electronic device providing navigation functionality to furnish a notification that the indicated speed limit of a roadway being traversed has changed. In an implementation, the display of the mobile electronic device is configured to display navigation information including a roadway graphic representing a roadway being traversed by the mobile electronic device and a speed limit indicator graphic for indicating the speed limit associated with the roadway. When a change in the indicated speed limit is encountered, an attribute of the navigation information is temporarily altered to provide a notification of the change.

  • SCALABLE HIGH SPEED MIMO-SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

    This invention provides satellite communication systems and methods that employ a satellite in MIMO communication with a geographically-distributed array of ground nodes. In an embodiment, the satellite communication system includes a MIMO satellite configured to receive first information at a higher bandwidth, process the first information into lower bandwidth signals, and relay the lower bandwidth signals using a satellite communication link. The geographically-separated ground nodes receive the lower bandwidth signals and transmit terrestrial signals using high-speed communication links. A central processing node receives the terrestrial signals over the high-speed communication links and combines the terrestrial signals to obtain the higher data rate signals.

  • GRID OF GROUND STATIONS FOR RECEIVING AND STORING SATELLITE DATA

    A device, referred to as a satellite grid, includes a plurality of reception and storage ground stations (5) provided with a storage unit (13), each station (5) including elements for receiving observation data from at least one satellite orbiting around the Earth. Each station (5) is connected to at least one digital network (15) and includes at least one management module so that the different stations cooperate together in order to provide a permanent and transparent shared access to the observation data coming from at least one satellite and stored in the different stations (5), wherein the satellite grid is adapted to be accessible and viewed as a single computer resource from any access point in the network (15).

  • SUPERVISORY CONTROL AND DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM FOR ENERGY EXTRACTING VESSEL NAVIGATION

    A Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system guides navigation of a vessel enabled to extract energy from wind and/or water currents primarily in offshore marine environments. An exemplary SCADA system could embody server and client software applications running on microprocessor systems at a remote control central service logging and energy distribution facility, and the vessel itself. The remote control service facility runs Human Machine Interface (HMI) software in the form of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) allowing choices to maximize system performance. The central server accesses information to control vessel position based on transmitted Global Position Satellite (GPS) data from the vessel, and weather information from the Geographic Information System (GIS) provided by multiple spatial temporal data sources. A server-side optimization algorithm fed the parameters delivered from vessel aerodynamic/hydrodynamic performance simulation software models, the vessel onboard sensor data, and integrated real-time weather and environmental data determines an optimal navigation through weather systems and presents choices to the HMI.

  • OPTICAL DEVICE FOR CORRECTING GEOSTATIONARY SATELLITE IMAGERY FOR EARTH CURVATURE EFFECTS

    An optical adapter for an imaging system correcting images of spherical or near spherical bodies such as the earth during satellite image collection. An imaging system includes an image collector that collects a two-dimensional image of the body from a distance above the body such as from a satellite in geostationary orbit. The collected image is disk shaped and includes distortion due to earth curvature, primarily in the form of a loss of resolution due to the foreshortening of earth features in a radial direction extending outward from the center of the image disk. The optical adapter receives the collected image, transforms the collected image to correct the distortion, and outputs a corrected image with essentially uniform spatial resolution across the areas for which the correction is applied. An image sensor such as charge-coupled device array senses the corrected image and creates a digital representation of the corrected image.

  • DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING RELATIVE POSITION (S) BY ANALYZING DUAL-FREQUENCY SIGNALS, FOR A SPACECRAFT OF A GROUP OF SPACECRAFT IN FORMATION

    A control device (D), for a spacecraft (S1) of a group of spacecraft moving in formation, comprises i) an assembly consisting of three antennas (A1-A3) installed on a face of the spacecraft (S1) and capable of emitting and/or receiving first and second RF signals exhibiting first and second frequencies spaced apart by a chosen frequency gap, ii) first measurement means (M1) charged with determining first and second differences in path length between antennas (A1-A3), corresponding to the first frequency and to the frequency gap, on the basis of the first and second signals received by the antennas and originating from another spacecraft, iii) second measurement means (M2) charged with delivering measurements of rotation undergone by the spacecraft (S1), and iv) processing means (MT) a) charged with coarsely estimating the direction of transmission of the signals received on the basis of first and second initial path length differences, b) with ordering the positioning of the spacecraft (S1) so that a chosen axis of a frame of reference tied to said spacecraft is aligned with respect to the coarse direction of transmission, c) with ordering the rotational turning of the spacecraft (S1) about the chosen axis, d) with precisely estimating the direction of transmission of the signals emitted by the other spacecraft (Si') on the basis of the rotation measurement and of a measurement of variation of the first path length difference induced by this rotation.

    Systems and associated methods configured to provide user-driven audio content navigation for the spoken web are described. Embodiments allow users to skim audio for content that seems to be of relevance to the user, similar to visual skimming of standard web pages, and mark point of interest within the audio. Embodiments provide techniques for navigating audio content while interacting with information systems in a client-server environment, where the client device can be a simple, standard telephone.

  • METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTUITIVE NAVIGATION OF A MEDIA PROGRAM

    A jog control for navigating a media program having a plurality of frames and a method for using the navigation control is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the control comprises a radial control at one of a plurality of user-selectable radial distances from a center of the jog control, the radial distance indicative of a jog control scale factor, wherein selection of the radial control selects and fixes the jog control scale factor until the control area is unselected, and wherein rotation of the selected radial control about a center of the jog control commands navigation through the plurality of media program frames at a rate determined by the selected jog control scale factor and an angular rate of the selected radial control about the center of the jog control.

  • METHOD OF OPERATING A NAVIGATION SYSTEM TO BLOCK UNWANTED ADVERTISEMENTS

    A method of operating a navigation system to block advertising messages is disclosed. A spatially based advertising filtering parameter defining a portion of a geographic region and an advertising message are obtained. A current location of the navigation system and a location of a business associated with the advertising message are identified. The method determines whether the location of the business is located outside of the portion of the geographic region defined by the spatially based advertising filtering parameter. If so, presentation of the advertising message is blocked.

    Including a vehicle position determining unit (4, 6, 7, 11) for determining current position of a mobile unit; a map DB 15 that stores map data; a display unit 18 for displaying on its screen the map data and a vehicle mark indicating the position of the mobile unit on a map; an operation input unit 10 for inputting a user operation; a route searching unit 12 for searching for a route to a destination or a route to the destination via a spot on the route; and a map generating unit 17. When the map on the screen moves in response to operation information from the operation input unit 10, the map generating unit reads the map data from the map DB 15, generates a general map including the current position and vehicle mark, and displays it on the display unit 18 as a partial area in the screen.

    A navigation system for a vehicle and a navigation method for the same are disclosed. The navigation system collects transportation information and fuel efficiency information from several source vehicles located in a specific region, generates an optimum route for the corresponding region, and informs a target vehicle having requested a navigation service of the optimum route, resulting in the implementation of more effective navigation service.

  • GENERATING DRIVING ROUTE TRACES IN A NAVIGATION SYSTEM USING A PROBABILITY MODEL

    A navigation system includes a display screen and a host machine operable for calculating and displaying a recommended travel route within a road network using a Markov or other probability model. The probability model statistically models a distribution pattern of speed or other actual driving behavior within a road network. An input device may record risk aversion of a user, with the host machine calculating the recommended travel route using the risk aversion. The host machine reduces the model to a single cost, and then uses the single cost in a Dijkstra algorithm or other costing function to calculate the recommended travel route. A method of operating the navigation system includes calculating the recommended travel route using a probability model, and displaying the recommended travel route via the display screen. The host machine may calculate the recommended travel route using risk aversion entered via an input device.

  • NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR REMOTE-CONTROLLED ACTUATOR

    A remote controlled actuator (5) includes an actuator main body (10), a distal end member (2) fitted to a distal end of a spindle guide section (3) of the actuator main body (10) for alteration in attitude, and a tool (1) rotatably supported by the distal end member (2). The navigation system includes a tool processing member position estimator (55) for estimating the position of a processing member (1a) of the tool (1) from information on the position and attitude of a marker (7A), fitted to the actuator main body (10), that are detected by a marker detecting unit (8), information on the attitude of the distal end member (2) relative to the actuator main body (10), information on the relative position of the distal end member (2) relative to the marker (7A), and information on the shape of the tool (1).

    A navigation or mapping system comprises a display device (240) and a processing resource (210, 490) arranged to process map data, traffic data and location data representative of the location of a vehicle, to produce an output representative of a traffic animation sequence, wherein the traffic animation sequence comprises a traffic indicator (530) on a map, the traffic indicator (530) is representative of traffic and the traffic indicator (530) varies to represent the variation of traffic between a start time and an end time, the processing resource is configured to vary at least one feature of the animation sequence in dependence upon the variation of the location of the vehicle between the start time and the end time, and the display device is responsive to the output from the processing resource to display the traffic animation sequence.

    A navigation or mapping system comprises a display device (240) and a processing resource (210, 490) arranged to process map data, traffic data and location data representative of the location of a vehicle, to produce an output representative of a traffic animation sequence, wherein the traffic animation sequence comprises a traffic indicator (530) on a map, the traffic indicator (530) is representative of traffic and the traffic indicator (530) varies to represent the variation of traffic between a start time and an end time, the processing resource is configured to vary at least one feature of the animation sequence in dependence upon the variation of the location of the vehicle between the start time and the end time, and the display device is responsive to the output from the processing resource to display the traffic animation sequence.

  • Electronic apparatus

    The present invention is an electronic apparatus including: an electronic apparatus main body 1; a panel main body that has a first guided component guided by a first guide groove C1 formed in the electronic apparatus main body, and moves in an inclined state with respect to the electronic apparatus main body; and a hold plate 6 that has a second guided portion guided by a second guide groove C2 formed in the electronic apparatus main body, and slidably holds the panel main body. According to the present invention, a mechanism for tilting the panel main body and a mechanism for sliding the panel main body are provided separately from each other, so that the panel main body having an increased weight can be operated smoothly in the inclined state.

    Location information is used to build a database of locations having associated audio, video, image or text data. In some implementations, a device includes a touch-sensitive display and collects data associated with a geographic location of interest. The geographic location of interest can be displayed on a map using an indicator. A touch selection of the indicator provides access to the data through an interface displayed on the touch-sensitive display. One or more locations of interest can be displayed and grouped together by an attribute.

    An apparatus includes an interferometer configured to generate an interference pattern by combining test light from a test object with reference light reflected from a reference object, the interferometer being further configured to direct at least a first part of a monitor test beam to the test object at a first incident angle and at least a second part of a monitor reference beam to the reference object at a second incident angle, and recombine the first part and the second part of the monitor beams after they reflect from the test and reference surfaces to interfere with one another and form a monitor pattern, where the first and second angles cause the monitor pattern to have spatial interference fringes, and wherein a change in the position of the interference fringes is indicative of a change in a relative position between the test and reference objects.

    Disclosed is a method and system for identifying a location of interest between a user and an identified endpoint and computing at least one reference vector based on current positional information, current velocity information, and an identified endpoint. A sampling bandwidth is designated based on at least one of current velocity information, current positional information, and current distance to the identified endpoint. One or more locations of interest between the user and the identified endpoint are identified within the sampling bandwidth. A sampling vector is calculated for at least one of the one or more locations of interest within the sampling bandwidth, and the user is alerted to the sampling vector for the at least one location of interest within the sampling bandwidth.

  • Satellite navigation using long-term navigation information and autonomous orbit control

    An improved approach to satellite-based navigation (e.g., GPS) is provided. In one embodiment, a method includes determining a nominal orbital path of a navigation satellite. The method also includes transmitting ephemeris data corresponding to the nominal orbital path from the navigation satellite to a plurality of navigation devices. The method further includes determining an actual orbital path of the navigation satellite locally at the navigation satellite. In addition, the method includes determining a deviation between the actual orbital path and the nominal orbital path locally at the navigation satellite. The method also includes autonomously adjusting the actual orbital path locally at the navigation satellite to reduce the deviation between the actual orbital path and the nominal orbital path.

  • Robust low-frequency spread-spectrum navigation system

    Methods and apparatus are described for a navigation system. A process includes providing a plurality of transmitters distributed throughout a desired coverage area; locking the plurality of transmitters to a common timing reference; transmitting a signal from each of the plurality of transmitters. An apparatus includes a plurality of transmitters distributed throughout a desired coverage area; wherein each of the plurality of transmitters comprises a packet generator; and wherein the plurality of transmitters are locked to a common timing reference.

  • Method and system for aviation navigation

    A system operates to guide an aircraft to or along a route designed to maintain the aircraft within a safe glide distance of an acceptable emergency landing area. The system uses a database of emergency landing areas with glide characteristics of an aircraft to determine a route that minimizes travel time or other specified parameter, while keeping the aircraft within a safe glide distance of a landing area in the database meeting the landing requirements for the aircraft.

    A portable touch-sensitive system for capturing Electronic Medical Data (EMD) to create Emergency Medicine Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) that includes Graphical User Interface (GUI) menus adapted specifically for collecting and reporting medical assessments in the Emergency Room (ER) environment. For navigation, the GUI menus use text objects that can be selected, opened and moved among multiple states using simple operator pen gestures. The resulting EMR content is fully accessible without scrolling, opening or closing windows, or changing menus, making it possible to capture, in real time as the patient is talking, a EMR that fully conforms to the predetermined EMD requirements of an Emergency Medicine EMR specification.

  • SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXTRACTING A DESTINATION FROM VOICE DATA ORIGINATING OVER A COMMUNICATION NETWORK

    A navigation system for an automotive vehicle capable of communicating with a remote communication device includes a host communication device connected to the remote communication device over a communication network to transmit voice data. A hands free communication unit having a speaker and a microphone is configured to connect with the host communication device so as to communicate with the remote communication device through the speaker and microphone. The vehicle navigation system also includes a voice recognition engine in communication with the hands free communication unit through a voice data link. A route generation unit is connected to the hands free communication unit and the voice recognition engine. The hands free communication unit is capable of transmitting the voice data originating from the remote communication device to the voice recognition engine over the voice data link. The voice recognition engine processes the voice data to extract a destination which is transferred to the route generation unit to determine a navigation route.

  • TARGET LOCATOR DEVICE AND METHODS

    Systems and methods for a target locator device are provided. In one embodiment, a target locator device comprises: a high performance gyroscope; an inertial measurement unit including an accelerometer triad and a gyroscope triad; a rangefinder; a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver; and a processor coupled to the high performance gyroscope, the inertial measurement unit, the rangefinder and the GNSS receiver. The processor derives an alignment heading from a heading measurement provided by the high performance gyroscope. The processor calculates a heading to a target based on a deviation from the alignment heading as measured from a heading and elevation measurement determined from the inertial measurement unit.

  • Automatic Blade Control System during a Period of a Global Navigation Satellite System ...

    For precision grading of terrain by a dozer, the dozer blade can be automatically controlled based on measurements from a combination of a global navigation satellite system real-time kinematic mode (GNSS RTK) system and inertial sensors. At least one GNSS sensor and at least one inertial sensor are mounted on the dozer. Control algorithms are based on blade elevation and blade slope angle. During a period of GNSS RTK system outage, control of blade elevation is not available. Blade control is maintained by switching to control algorithms based on blade slope angle and blade pitch angle. Blade slope angle and blade pitch angle are controlled based on extrapolated target values of blade slope angle and blade pitch angle. The extrapolated target values of the angles are extrapolated from target values of the angles prior to the GNSS RTK system outage with the use of a distance travelled by the dozer.

    An image guided navigation system for navigating a region of a subject includes an imaging device, a tracking device, a controller, and a display. The imaging device generates images of the region of the subject. The tracking device tracks the location of the instrument in the subject. The controller superimposes an icon representative of the instrument onto the images generated from the imaging device based upon the tracked location of the instrument. The display displays the image with the superimposed instrument.

    A surgical instrument navigation system is provided that visually simulates a virtual volumetric scene of a body cavity of a patient from a point of view of a surgical instrument residing in the cavity of the patient. The surgical instrument navigation system includes: a surgical instrument; an imaging device which is operable to capture scan data representative of an internal region of interest within a given patient; a tracking subsystem that employs electro-magnetic sensing to capture in real-time position data indicative of the position of the surgical instrument; a data processor which is operable to render a volumetric, perspective image of the internal region of interest from a point of view of the surgical instrument; and a display which is operable to display the volumetric perspective image of the patient.

    A surgical instrument navigation system is provided that visually simulates a virtual volumetric scene of a body cavity of a patient from a point of view of a surgical instrument residing in the cavity of the patient. The surgical instrument navigation system includes: a surgical instrument; an imaging device which is operable to capture scan data representative of an internal region of interest within a given patient; a tracking subsystem that employs electro-magnetic sensing to capture in real-time position data indicative of the position of the surgical instrument; a data processor which is operable to render a volumetric, perspective image of the internal region of interest from a point of view of the surgical instrument; and a display which is operable to display the volumetric perspective image of the patient.

    A bit change determination method includes performing a correlation operation of a signal received from a satellite and a replica code, segmenting the signal using a bit transition timing of navigation message data and performing a first calculation to calculate the result of the correlation operation for a first period having N (N.gtoreq.1) continuous unit periods with a bit period of navigation message data as a unit period, performing a second calculation to calculate the result of the correlation operation for a second period having M (M>1) continuous unit periods adjacent to the first period, and determining whether a bit value changes or not at a boundary between the first period and the second period using the first and second calculation results.

  • SATELLITE NAVIGATION RECEIVERS WITH SELF-PROVIDED FUTURE EPHEMERIS AND CLOCK PREDICTIONS

    An improved extended ephemeris navigation receiver includes a fully autonomous satellite navigation receiver for receiving microwave transmissions from orbiting navigation system satellites, and able to demodulatenavigation messages that include the ephemerides for those navigation system satellites. The improvements include a force model of the accelerations acting on a particular satellite vehicle, and are exclusive to the receiver. A single observation of the ephemeris for each SV is input and propagated days into the future by integrating each SV's orbital position with its corresponding force model. The fully autonomous satellitenavigation receiver thereafter has available to it extended ephemeris predictions that can be used as substitutes when said navigation messages from the respective SV cannot otherwise be immediately obtained and demodulated.

  • APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ULTRA-FAST GNSS INITIAL POSITIONING SCHEME WITH PEER ASSISTANCE, AND RECORDING MEDIUM THEREOF

    A method and an apparatus for acquiring an ultra-fast global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) initial position with peer assistance are disclosed. The apparatus includes a communication unit configured to receive assistance generated using a distance from a master terminal to a slave terminal and frequency error of a counterpart's terminal, a communication signal system configured to immediately receive immediately necessary information of the assistance, a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver configured to rapidly search for a GPS satellite signal using the assistance and continuously track the GPS satellite signal so as to extract a pseudorange, and a computation processor configured to compute the position of the slave terminal using the assistance and the pseudorange. By this configuration, it is possible to perform fast initial position measurement as compared to the existing A-GPS technique, achieve direct communication between two GPS receivers regardless of presence/absence of a mobile communication network, and solve various limitations of the A-GPS technique.

    A base may locate a remote control by transmitting a first location signal, receiving a second location signal at base receivers from a remote control device transponder transmitted in response, and calculating a location of the remote control device based on the received second location signal. The base may provide navigation information based on the calculated location. In some implementations, the base may perform a setup routine by providing an interface that accepts position information, accepting an indication that the remote control is located at a position, transmitting a first calibration signal, receiving a second calibration signal at the receivers transmitted by the transponder in response, and recording baselines for the position. When the base unit subsequently analyses a second location signal to calculate a location of the remote control, the base may base the calculated location at least partly on the baselines.

    A GPS receiver is used to receive a signal from GPS satellites, and a current vehicle position is detected based on the received signal. A control unit estimates the current vehicle position based on a travel speed of a vehicle from a vehicle speed sensor and a travel direction of the vehicle from a direction sensor. It will then calculate the distance to be traveled to the destination and form routes to direct him/her towards the desired location. These steps are carried out using sensor readings and in some cases magnetic maps of the interiors of buildings stored on the smartphone. In some cases dynamic time warping ("DTW") is used to align a recorded signature of the person's movement through the building with a stored magnetic map in order to identify the person's location within the building.

The one or more nearby landmarks can be selected based on an expected user familiarity with the landmark, a precision of the landmark and/or a spatial relationship of the landmark with respect to the target location.     When viewing a document, a user may switch between detailed reading of the document, and glancing at the structure of the document, in a single smooth flow of actions. In one example, a document is shown with a navigation bar that has a thumb. Before the user clicks the thumb, the document is shown at its current position at a first zoom level. When the user clicks and holds the thumb, the current page of the document is shown at a second zoom level, which may be a full-page zoom level at which an entire page of the document fits in the viewing area. The user may drag the thumb, thereby changing the current page being shown at the second zoom level. When the use releases the thumb, the current page may be shown at the first zoom level.

    An acoustic navigation system includes a vessel and an interrogation unit towed behind the vessel below the surface of the water, a tail acoustic transponder trailing behind the interrogation unit, and a pair of surface acoustic transponders towed behind the vessel on the surface of the body of water.     A method for mobile navigation by using a smart phone is provided. The smart phone comprises: a GNSS navigation processor, a motion detector, a correlation processor, a triangulation processor, and a verified location display. The method of the present technology comprises: (A) obtaining a set of GNSS processor position fixes by using the GNSS navigation processor; (B) obtaining a set of motion-related data of the smart phone by using the motion detector; and (C) correlating the set of GNSS processor position fixes associated with the smart phone and the set of motion-related data associated with the smart phone and obtaining a set of GNSS correlation data. If the set of GNSS processor position fixes based on the set of GNSS correlation data is verified, the GNSS navigation processor is used for navigation; whereas if the set of GNSS processor position fixes based on the set of GNSS correlation data is not verified, the motion detector aided by triangulation processor is used for navigation.

The planning and navigation system also includes a controller that receives data from the planning system and the navigation system and a display configured to display the received information.

    A system for determining a position of a device, the system including a receiver module, a communication module, and a location determining module.
