In the present study attempts were made to formulate 35 mg Trimetazidine Dihydrochloride Sustained release matrix tablet which can deliver drug at a near constant rate for 8 hours. Sustained release matrix tablets of Trimetazidine Dihydrochloride were prepared by Wet granulation method. Initially tablets were prepared with drug to polymer with HPMC in formulation F1 released 98.33% of drug within 4 hrs. Polymer concentration was increased in the further trials of F2 released, 84.40% in 6 hours. Polymer concentration was again increased in other trial of F3 released, 103.66% in 6 hours. In Formulation F4, the polymer HPMC concentration was increased released 95.50% in 8 hours. Tablets were prepared with different concentration of the polymer. The drug released from formulation of F1, F2, F3 and F4 were 98.33%, 84.40%, 103.66% and 95.50% in 4, 4, 6 and 8 hours respectively. Batch F4 was found to obey higuchi release kinetic model. Compatibility study was carried out for drug polymer interaction, revealed that there is no interaction of the polymer with the drug.
