Graphene oxide [GO] nanocomposites have rapidly grown as a new type of nanomaterial. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the present trends in graphene oxide research with an emphasis on graphene based nanocomposites. Various synthesis methods have recently been devised for production of graphene oxide nanocomposites. Graphene oxide, a two dimensional nanomaterial has been widely investigated for its novel physicochemical properties and potential application due to their small size, large surface area and ability to interact with cell or tissues. Graphene oxide has unique structure and excellent mechanical, optical, electrical properties and has been exploited in electronics and other fields. This review also elaborates recent development of nanocomposites as a platform in novel drug delivery system.
