Digital systems, like smartphone applications, are used as regulatory-approved, recommended therapeutic treatments to address medical conditions. This novel treatment approach is known as digital therapeutics. For a variety of illnesses, including diabetes, cancer medication management and neuropsychiatric disorders like anxiety disorder, melancholy and substance use disorder, digital therapeutics devices are currently available in the market or being developed. Perhaps never before has there been a higher need for digital medicines than now, given the COVID-19 pandemic. However, digital therapies continue to be undeveloped and unutilized despite recent technological developments and increased attention as a result of the pandemic. The digitalization of healthcare has given consumers more authority than ever. In order to keep up with the growing number of informed patients making their own treatment choices, digital health solutions are now essential. We provided an updated overview of digital medicines with supporting data in this paper, which is presented in tabular fashion. We also mention about recent studies in the area of digital therapies, which are tabulated. The use of pharmaceuticals is crucial for both preserving and enhancing patient health. This article's primary goal is to provide an outline of digital therapeutics (DT), including its clinical applications, adoption challenges and how it contributed to COVID-19 and uses of artificial intelligence in digital therapeutics.
