Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) is a group of neurodegenerative disorders primarily affecting the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. Unlike Alzheimer’s disease, FTD often develops earlier in life and manifests with changes in behavior, personality, and language rather than memory loss. Since its first description in the late 19th century, FTD has been increasingly recognized worldwide, though its prevalence remains underestimated. This review summarizes the history, epidemiology, pathology, clinical course, impact on caregivers, and future directions of FTD research and management.
