The antimicrobial activity of different extracts of the plant Barleria prionitis was evaluated by well diffusion method against E. aerogenes, E. coli, S. aureus, H. pylori C. albicans, T. asahii, A.fumigatus and A. flavus at different concentrations of 25µg, 50µg, 75µg and 100µg respectively. All the plant extracts showed inhibitory activity against all the organisms and the maximum zone of inhibition was obtained against S. aureus with the ethanol extract. Phytochemical screening of the plant revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, saponins, coumarin, tannin and lignin.
