Anticoagulants are the corner stone of treatment of venousthromboembolism and its associated various medical conditions and surgical procedures. Bleeding is the major adverse effect associated with anticoagulants (warfarin therapy). Despite bleeding, other non-bleeding events (1%) may also occur which includes skin necrosis, “purple toe syndrome,” and dermatologic hypersensitivity reactions. Potential dermatologic adverse effects include alopecia, bullous eruptions, dermatitis, erythematous maculo papular rashes, pruritus and urticaria.
