The study aims to evaluate the phytochemical screening and free radical scavenging activity of ethanolic extract of Tribulus terrestris. The 1, 1-diphenyl -2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay was used to determine antioxidant properties of Tribulus terrestris by measuring the absorbance at 517 nm. Tribulus terrestris and α-tocopherol strongly scavenged DPPH radical in dose-dependent manner. IC50 value for α-tocopherol and Tribulus terrestris was found to be 70.97 and 124.08 µg/ml respectively. The results showed that Tribulus terrestris exhibited strong antioxidant potential with the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, polyphenols and steroids.
