As a consequence of normal metabolic processes, the body produces reactive oxygen species (ROS) capable of oxidizing biomolecules that can damage DNA as well as contribute to chronic diseases. This procedure can be inhibited by consumption of herbal plants which have ability to scavenge ROS, RNS and other radicals. The present study was aimed to evaluate the free radical scavenging potential of leaves and seeds (OC) extract of Ocimum canum to exhibit their reducing ability. The maximum scavenging was seen in alcoholic extract of leaves of OC with IC50 value 51.38 µg/ml for iron chelation assay. The data obtained in present study suggests that the leaves of OC have potent antioxidant activity against free radicals and also exhibited an immense reducing ability
