Jatropha curcus linn bark were extracted using water to obtain aqueous extracts. This extract was evaluated for anti cataleptic activity using clonidine induced and haloperidol-induced catalepsy models at the dose of 50 mg/kg, i.p. The aqueous extracts (50 mg/kg, i.p.) of the plant significantly inhibited clonidine-induced catalepsy and haloperidol-induced catalepsy. Thus polar constituents of the plant can be used as antihistaminics and may have promising role in the treatment of asthma.
