Luffa acutangula (Cucurbitaceae) is common cultivated plant in allover India and other countries, used for traditional medicine. This review represents the ethanopharmacology of luffa acutangula as well as its potential therapeutic benefits especially for non-alkaloidal constituents. The non-alkaloidal includes tannins, flavonoids, starch, proteins and amino acids are documented. The beneficial peroperties of luffa actangula are hepatoprotective activity, antidiabetic activity, antioxidant activity, fungistatic property, CNS depressant activity and other various activities.
