The present study deals with the evaluation of antibacterial activity of aerial parts of various extracts of Tabernamontana divaricata against marine pathogens. The Phytochemical screening was done in aqueous, pet-ether and methanol extracts of the plant as per the standard procedures. In this study, Antimicrobial assay was carried out against Vibrio parhaemolyticus, a shrimp pathogen and Vibrio alginolyticus a fish pathogen. Disc diffusion method is employed for the screening using Ciproflaxacin 30µg as standard drug. In anti microbial screening, Ethanol extract of T.divaricata (24.4± 0.12 mm and 16.6±0.4mm) showed a promising antibacterial activity against V. parhaemolyticus and V. alginolyticus respectively. The obtained results proved that T.divaricata possess a fruitful antibacterial action against marine pathogens so that it can be utilized in the infection caused by marine pathogens.
