By in-situ amorphization one can amorphize a given drug in its final dosage form. In present work the feasibility of microwave irradiation to enhance the dissolution rate and solubility of poorly water soluble BCS class II antidiabetic drug (glipizide) was investigated. GZ and PVP K90 were tableted by direct compression technology at 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5 and 1:6 ratios. To study the effect of energy on degree of amorphization and moisture content, each tablet batch was divided into two groups and stored at different relative humidity 1st (40oC and 75% RH) 2nd (30oC and 32% RH) for 2 weeks and microwaved using different power (300 and 500W) time combination (50, 90, 180 and 300s) and evaluated for difference in %drug release between microwaved and untreated tablets.
