Aquatic plants are always exposed to various types of stresses and the marine\nalgae have been considered as useful bioindicators for detecting different\nkinds of environmental alterations. Present investigation was carried out to\ntest the comparative response of red algae (Gracilaria salicornia and Digenea\nsimplex ) and green algae (Enteromorpha compressa and Sargassum muticum)\nto the contaminants present in their surrounding growth medium. The\nresults of the study show that the studied macroalgae responded differently in\nterms of physiological and biochemical parameters.
