The goal of the current article is to examine the status and role of entrepreneurship in the\r\nGreek economy. It presents data on entrepreneurship and business demographic data as size\r\nclasses, employment, value added and business failure. It also presents data on the barriers\r\nmet by Greek enterprises. The final conclusion is that entrepreneurship, and especially SMEs,\r\ndo play a vital role in Greek economy, but business prospects at the moment are not very\r\ngood. There is an urgent need for political and economic reform, in order to support SMEs�\r\noperation and secure their valuable contribution to economy.
