This systematic review aims to synthesize existing evidence on nursing considerations in the management of adults with stiff-person syndrome, with emphasis on clinical care, psychosocial support and multidisciplinary collaboration. A systematic literature search was conducted using PubMed, Google Scholar, National Institutes of Health (NIH) and World Health Organization (WHO) databases. Articles published in English between 2000 and 2025 were reviewed. Keywords included “Stiff-Person Syndrome,” “adult nursing care,” “autoimmune neurological disorders,” and “nursing management.” Review articles, clinical studies, guidelines and authoritative reports were analyzed to identify key nursing interventions and care priorities. The review highlights that SPS is predominantly associated with autoimmune mechanisms, particularly anti–glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies, resulting in impaired inhibitory neurotransmission. Core nursing concerns include pain management, prevention of falls, monitoring of pharmacological and immunotherapeutic treatments, maintenance of mobility and management of psychological comorbidities such as anxiety and depression. Patient and family education, along with coordinated multidisciplinary care, were identified as essential components in improving functional outcomes and quality of life. Nursing care is central to the comprehensive management of adults with Stiff-Person Syndrome. Early recognition, holistic assessment, individualized interventions and ongoing psychosocial support significantly contribute to symptom control, prevention of complications and enhancement of quality of life.
