Quarterly published in print and online "Inventi Rapid: Cardiology & Haematology (Formerly Inventi Rapid: Blood)" publishes high quality unpublished as well as high impact pre-published research and reviews catering to the needs of researchers and professionals. The journal welcomes papers in all the areas of hematology including basic laboratory, translational, and clinical investigations in hematology. The focus areas are disorders of leukocytes, both benign and malignant, erythrocytes, platelets, hemostatic mechanisms, vascular biology, immunology, and hematologic oncology.
Heart Diseases have been the No. 1 cause of deaths across the globe followed by stroke. Numerous researches have been done in terms of drugs and treatment modalities, but still the leading reason for morbidity and mortality, the heart diseases are at top position world over. In America, Heart Diseases are the nation’s leading causes for deaths, since 1921. Around 90 million people living in America have cardiovascular diseases. Of these around 80 million Americans have high blood pressure. If we talk about Stats of India, It still ranks top most reason for deaths in the country, with more than 1.7 million registered deaths due to heart diseases. The present letter to the editor has been written to bring the knowledge of biomarkers, which can help in early detection of damages to be caused by heart ailments to the body and which the doctors can rely upon in order to save the precious lives....
The liver is a complex organ system that is involved in a variety of life sustaining processes. The complex development of liver and the biliary system in utero results in multiple and complicated anatomical variations. An absolute knowledge of these anatomical variations, careful dissection and identification of these structures at the time of surgery is required for the safe performance of all hepatobiliary operarions. There are three major hepatic veins-right,middle and left. The study of diameter of right hepatic vein at its opening into inferior vena cava has been undertaken on 15 livers from embalmed cadavers. The veins were studied radiologically followed by dissection. On radiology, diameter was found to be 0.8-2.4cm. Comparison couldnot be done as such a study has not been reported as yet.The results obtained by the dissection methods are in accordance with the work done by previous researchers.Diameter obtained was 0.7-2.0.Mean obtained was 1.167+ 0.358cm.Thus, this study has been done for correctly performing liver transplantation procedures and to cope up anatomic anomalies....
With its significant morbidity and associated mortality, Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) presents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge to all clinicians directly involved in patient care. In view of the shortcomings in the existing methods for the prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment of DVT, it has been the aim of the researchers to try and come up with newer methods, with their benefits cancelling the shortcomings of the previous therapies. Recent breakthroughs in minimally invasive interventional radiology techniques such as use of indium-lll- labelled platelets and use of automated strain gauge plethysmography, however, are improving the prognosis of DVT. Also, the use of the Lympha Press Pneumatic Apparatus is being seen as an effective tool for the prophylactic treatment of DVT. With newer anticoagulants like Fondaparinux, Idraparinux, Razaxaban, Apixaban, Dabigatran, Lepirudin and techniques like the Power Pulse technique and retrievable filters, the scope for research in the management of DVT is broadening every day....
Beta thalassemia is an autosomal recessive inherited disease caused by mutations in a gene. Most of the beta-thalassemia patients underwent multiple blood transfusions it leads to accumulation of iron in the body and other complications like Splenomegaly can be seen. To decreases the Serum ferritin levels, complications, increases the time duration of blood transfusion Iron chelator’s like deferasirox are used. And Folic supplements, vitamin supplements are given to improve quality of life. Patient education about disease is important and Vaccination is needed for these patients. It is a retrospective, observational study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital in Telangana region. The data were collected from case structured questionnaire after taking informed consent from the patients. In our Study 65 patients were taken in that most of them are homozygous type of DNA and belong to rural area. In our study 78.46% patients underwent blood transfusion monthly once followed by 12.30% patients monthly twice and 7.69% patients transfused monthly once/ twice and 1.53% patients transfused 2-3 months. Our study is based on iron chelation therapy 86.15% of the patients are treated with deferasirox followed by 6.15% patients treated with Kelfer and 7.69% patients were not started the chelator’s during our study. With deferasirox most of the patients shows the positive response therefore decrease in Serum ferritin levels is 75.38%, some patients showing alteration in Serum ferritin levels is 16.92%,only few patients are without any chelator is 7.69%....
Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is a common complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Increased release of adenosine and stimulation of adenosine receptors have been proposed to be major mechanisms in the development of CIN. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of theophylline in patients with chronic stable angina (CSA) undergoing elective PCI. Fifty nine patients with stable serum creatinine and having moderate or high risk for CIN were randomized to three groups: Group I (20 patients received IV hydration 1 ml/kg/hr for 24 hours plus N-acetylcysteine 600 mg bid two days before PCI), Group II: (19 patients received IV hydration 1ml/kg/hr for 24 hours plus theophylline 200 mg in 100 ml 0.9% saline, as IV infusion 30 minutes before PCI) and Group III (20 patients received IV hydration 1 ml/kg/hr for 24 hours plus NAC 600 mg bid two days before PCI plus theophylline 200 mg in 100 ml 0.9% saline, as IV infusion 30 minutes before PCI). The primary goal was assessment of CIN. The secondary goal was assessment ability of neutrophil-gelatinase associated lipocaline (NGAL) in early detection of CIN. The incidence of CIN was significantly lower in group III compared with other groups. NGAL Sensitivity was 100%, specificity was 80% and area under the curve=0.92. In conclusion, use of theophylline plus NAC in patients undergoing elective PCI lead to decrease the incidence of CIN.NGAL is an early biomarker that depicts CIN....
