Children suffer with different types of diseases. Main reason is that inadequate knowledge regarding the health and unaware about the healthy behaviours. The study was to assess the effect of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding health behaviour among school children in a selected school at Pathanamthitta district. The objectives of the study were the assessment of the level of knowledge of school children regarding health behaviour, provide planned teaching programme regarding health behaviour, assess the effect of planned teaching programme on health behavior and find the association between selected baseline variables and pre test knowledge scores. In the present study one group pre test post test design was used. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling. The tool was developed and the content validity and reliability of the tool were assessed. Pilot study conducted. Immediately after the pre test planned teaching programme was administered. After 5 days post test was conducted using the same questionnaire. The findings showed that there was a significant improvement in the post test knowledge level of school children. The t value was 65.225 which were significant at 0.01 level....
The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding effects of tobacco among high school students in a selected school at Kollam district. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding the effects of tobacco use among high school students. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding the effects of tobacco use among high school students, to find out the association between the pretest knowledge scores regarding the effects of tobacco use among high school students with selected socio demographic variables. A quantitative study was aimed at assessing the attitude among 130 High school students regarding online education during COVID 19 Pandemic in Kollam district. The objectives of the study were to assess the attitude among high school students regarding online education during COVID 19 Pandemic and to find out the association between attitude scores towards online education during COVID 19 Pandemic and selected socio demographic variables. A quantitative research approach was employed for the research study. The research design adopted for the present study was descriptive survey design. 130 subjects identified by non-probability purposive sampling technique from Child Friendly High School, Kottiyam, Kollam. Data was collected using structured survey questionnaire through the google form. The result showed that out of 130 subjects, 22% students had very good attitude scores, 53% students had good attitude scores, 16% students had average attitude scores and 9% students had poor attitude scores regarding Online education during COVID 19 Pandemic. Result also revealed that there is a significant association between attitude scores towards online education during COVID 19 Pandemic and socio demographic variables with mode of accessing online class (2 = 20.99, p value = 0.001) and availability of internet / Wi-Fi connection at home (2 = 8.39, p value = 0.038). A quantitative research study was aimed to assess knowledge regarding Nurse Practitioner Course among 49 Nursing students from III year BSc Nursing at Holy Cross College of Nursing, Kottiam, Kollam. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge scores regarding nurse practitioner course among nursing students, to evaluate the effectiveness of online teaching strategy on knowledge scores regarding nurse practitioner course among nursing students and to find out the association between online pretest knowledge scores regarding nurse practitioner course among nursing students with selected socio demographic variables. A quantitative approach was used to determine the effectiveness of online teaching strategy on knowledge regarding nurse practitioner course in nursing students in selected nursing college. The research design adopted for the present was pre-experimental one group pretest - posttest design. The study was conducted during the period of COVID 19 so investigator had collected the data through online medium. Online pretest was conducted by using structured knowledge questionnaire followed by administration of online teaching strategy. Online post-test was conducted after 7 days by using same Structured questionnaire. The average scores of knowledge before and after online teaching strategy in the subjects were 9.78 and 15.20 respectively. The Paired t test statistics (t = 6.09, table value = 2.011; t value greater than table value) shows that increase in the scores of knowledge as a result of the Online Teaching Strategy is statistically significant at 0.05 level (p<0.05). Plastic will not disintegrate unlike paper, jute, metal, glass or mud. Plastics are also known to their toxic effects from the plasticizers like polyvinylchloride, Diethyl hexyl phthalate, polyestrene, poly chlorinated biphenyls etc. Study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of planned health teaching on plastic hazards among secondary school children. Objectives for this study were to identify the knowledge of high school students about the hazards of plastic use, to develop and validate a planned teaching programme on the hazards of plastic use, to evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on the hazards of plastic use in terms of gain in knowledge scores. The pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was adopted for the study. The sample consisted of 100 students of secondary school. The schools were selected conveniently and the sample by stratified random sampling technique. The data were collected by validated structured knowledge questionnaire with the reliability of 0.78. There was significant hike in the mean post test (X2 =22.81) when compared with the mean pre-test (X1=14.16) knowledge scores. The computed ‘t’ value (t99=28.7 p<0.05) showed significance in the effectiveness of planned teaching programme. The area wise knowledge scores of post-test were highly significant in all areas except regarding the use of plastics. There was no association of knowledge scores and selected variables like class of study, age, sex and religion. The result showed a high effectiveness of planned teaching programme is in increasing the level of knowledge among high school students regarding the hazards of plastic use. It has given a new avenue to the researcher to widen the horizon on more research aspects of plastic use....
A quantitative research study was aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding prevention of COVID-19 among I year BSc. Nursing students. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding prevention of COVID-19 among I year BSc. Nursing students, to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding prevention of COVID-19 among I year BSc. Nursing students, to find out the association between the pretest knowledge regarding prevention of COVID-19 among I year BSc. Nursing students with selected socio demographic variables. The study was undertaken with 50 samples. Convenience Sampling was used. The research design was one group pre-test post-test design. Structured knowledge questionnaire was used for collecting the data. Pre-test was administered followed by structured teaching program and post-test conducted. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study findings show that in the pre-test 32% of students are having poor knowledge and 68%are having average level of knowledge regarding prevention of COVID -19. After the structure teaching program, in the post-test 100% of students having good level of knowledge regarding prevention of COVID-19. The calculated ‘t’ value 2.009is higher than table value 1.677 at 0.05 level of significance. So, the hypothesis H1 was accepted. Hence it can be concluded that there is statistically significant difference in the knowledge level of I year student nurses regarding prevention of COVID-19. It is inferred that structured teaching program was effective It was concluded that there was a significant improvement in post-test scores when compare to the pre-test scores.
