According to the characteristics of airport\r\npavement traffic, we discuss a method of building an\r\nairport pavement traffic model which is based on CPN\r\ntheory and simulate a practical situation as well. The\r\nmethod overcomes the shortage of modelling with\r\nnormal Petri Net theory, solves the difficult problems of\r\nairport pavement traffic such as complex traffic nets,\r\nfrequent road changing, etc., refines the process of the\r\nmodel, and will be good for the models analysis and\r\nsimulation....
Innovation activities are a critical factor in\r\nnational and regional development. The innovative\r\nbehaviour of companies is one of the main sources of\r\ncompetitiveness, business survival, economic growth\r\nand employment in a territory. It is therefore\r\nimportant to identify and understand the factors that\r\ndetermine innovation behaviour among enterprises. In\r\nline with this, the aim of this study is to analyse the\r\nrelations between innovation-related variables and the\r\nimpact that they have on company performance. The\r\nresearch model proposed is applied to two high-tech\r\nsectors of the Italian region of Lazio to verify its\r\nvalidity. The examination concerns the aerospace and\r\nbiotech sectors, which are characterized by strong\r\ninnovative activity....
This article deals with the conception of causation in legal discourse.\r\nAuthors firstly examine causation in the scientific, philosophical and\r\ncommon-sense discourse. Does it make sense to use general causal terms\r\nwhen examining causality in law? We can ask whether legal causality isn´t\r\nonly artificial construct, legal fiction of a causal relationship. Some authors\r\nclaim that legal causation is not essentially a causation in the true common\r\nsense and thus only a pragmatic political decision regarding the application\r\nof distributive and corrective justice, and economic evaluation of benefits in\r\nsociety, others on the contrary point out that causality in law as such is equal\r\nto its common everyday use or even in the scientific sense. What are the\r\ncriteria in the legal sense that lead us to judge that certain event causes harm?\r\nWhich issues relevant to philosophical discourse may be in legal discourse\r\nignored as irrelevant? The authors show the necessary connection between\r\nterms causality in different branches although they conclude that causality is\r\npluralistic concept. The issue of this article is to find out solution for causal\r\nconnection in particular paradigmatic cases and set up some causal formulas\r\nthat could be used in legal practice....
This paper examines the effects of key indicators (risk of inflation, inflation hedge, property\r\nprices, real income of investors, access to financing, and interest rates) on investors investors\r\ndecision to purchase a real estate property. The data for this study were obtained by\r\nconducting a detailed literature review on the key indicators and relevant theories. The\r\noutcome of this paper is a conceptual framework of the proposed ideas. We hope that this\r\ncritical review will provide relevant materials for the real estate industry as well as researchers\r\nto build capacity, and knowledge in developing relevant scales and measures for future\r\nassessments of purchase decisions involving real estate property....
Expected marginal seat revenue (EMSR) is a\r\nwell-known method for airline seat inventory control\r\nairlines. However, this method employs a static model to\r\nstudy the dynamic reservation process, and does not take\r\ninto account the risk tolerance of policy makers. Expected\r\nmarginal seat utility (EMSU) replaces revenue by utility,\r\nwhich addresses the real situation of seat inventory\r\ncontrol. However, there is still a lack of multi-leg seat\r\ncontrol algorithms based on EMSU. Therefore, using\r\nEMSU and bucket algorithms, this paper applies the\r\nMarkov decision-making process to simulate the flight\r\nreservation process and builds a dynamic multi-leg seat\r\ninventory control model. Experimental results validate\r\nthe effectiveness of the proposed method....
To remedy the lack of mathematical programming\r\nand the Expected Marginal Seat Revenue (EMSR) model\r\nfor multi-leg seat inventory control, this paper proposes a\r\nmethod based on passenger choice. Except for data about\r\nwhich seats passengers decide to opt for, there is no need\r\nto obtain distributions of passengersââ?¬â?¢ demands or other ââ?¬Å?a\r\nprioriââ?¬Â information. The proposed method can discover the\r\nreal factors that affect passengersââ?¬â?¢ choices, and then\r\nestimate the probabilities of seat choices and the revenue\r\naccording to the weights of the factors. Simulated\r\nexperiments and comparison with the shadow price\r\nmethod and the virtual ââ?¬Å?bucketââ?¬Â method confirm the\r\nfeasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method in seat\r\ninventory control for multi-leg flights....
The development of technology parks in Malaysia creates the expectations that they will contribute\r\nsignificantly to the industrialization. Therefore, there is increasing number of research conducted\r\non technology parks performance. However, there is still uncertainty about whether technology\r\nparks are achieving their goals or not and exactly what their impact is on their tenants. To\r\ncontribute to understanding this issue, this paper focuses specifically on the impact of technology\r\npark services on high technology industries. A case study on one of the well-established technology\r\nparks in Malaysia that is Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) has been conducted. After a series of\r\ninterviews with the administrator and review of literature, nine evaluation criteria were identified\r\nand used to observe the impact of technology park services on the industrial tenants of the\r\ntechnology park. From a survey on the industrial tenants in KHTP, it is found that the technology\r\npark has all the nine evaluated criteria. However, these criteria have different categories of impact\r\non the tenants. It can be concluded that there is still more room to improve in ensuring the\r\ncompetitiveness of the technology park. This study could be extended to other technology parks in\r\nthe whole country....
