Most of the businesses in Cameroon are family-owned and managed. These businesses fall\nwithin the Small and Medium size Enterprises (SMEs) which contribute greatly to the GP of\nCameroon and also provide jobs to many Cameroonians. These businesses face a lot of\nchallenges ranging from their initiations, management and their lifespan, leading to the collapse\nof most of them leaving many people jobless. This study was carried out in the Northwest and\nSouthwest Regions of Cameroon to identify those factors that influence the sustainability of this\ntype of businesses so as to propose measures to both the State and Family Business owners that\ncan be put in place to remedy the situation. Given that this was an exploratory research, a\nsurvey-based approach was used through the purposive sampling technique, where some thirty\nfamily businesses were studied using questionnaires and interviews. Both quantitative and\nqualitative research methods were used and the data were analyzed with the aid of SPSS 17 and\nStata 14 software programs. Descriptive statistics was used to summarize the sampled opinions\nof the respondents. The results show that most of the family business initiators do not consider\nthe sustainability of the businesses after they die and hence do not prepare for succession.\nResults from this study will enlighten stakeholders concerned with family businesses on the\nextent of sustainability and its configuration across business size as well as its determinants....

An incorrect career choice directs all individual efforts and resources into a wrong direction, when not aligned with the expectations; would not only be frustrating rather draining of the individual energy and wastage of resources. The motivation behind this research study was to investigate the factors that influence the career selection choice of the student and create a possible alignment between their preferences and the institutions curriculum and offerings. The structured questionnaire was distributed among MBA/BBA students enrolled in different universities of Karachi. Data were collected from 120 participants and analyzed using SPSS. Correlation and multiple -regression were applied as statistical tools to test the hypotheses. The results of the study revealed that ââ?¬Å?interest in the subjectââ?¬Â is the most dominant factor influencing career choices of business students f (1,118)= 12.304, p<0.05, R=.307. Financial outcomes, ease of subject and future job opportunities were observed to have minor impact. The interest in the subject is also related and has some linkage with personality type. Mismatch of the personality and lack of interest in the subject is dangerous, and could end up into disastrous results in terms of student dissatisfaction, demotivation, lack of productivity leading to increased dropouts and career failure. The study results are indicative of the importance of students counseling sessions and other interventions to provide them with updated knowledge, and information to create their interest in the right choices and available options. The aim of this article is to analyze innovation from a theoretical perspective and focus on assistance of innovation in the Czech Republic - overview of institutions supporting the innovation activities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), their characteristics and selected programs that are used to support the development of innovative activity of SMEs.
