Recently, business education has experienced an expansion of online education\nprograms. In this paper, we propose a framework to improve the effectiveness\nof student learning in an online lecture format. In particular, we focus\non business courses, which tend to be hard to replicate online as they rely on\nteam work and applied logical thinking in addition to the learning of facts and\ntheory. We identify two main areas that are vital to online business education:\ncompetition and community building among students. We argue these are an\nadditional task for the instructor to deliberately perform in an online setting,\ncompared to what often occurs organically in a traditional in-class setting....
We analyze the acting of a formal government institution in an attempt to support business and fill the institutional\nvoid, whose context is evident in Latin America. We investigated the Brazilian Agency for Export and Investment\nPromotion. The data shows that the institution is configured as a structured market intermediary and directed to\ncontribute to the institutional environment, with the shares to reduce asymmetric information, acting as a link\nbetween business exporters and importers and acting as a political strategist. However, it is evident also that the\nvolume of companies with potential for internationalization as well as institutional settings still represent a major\nchallenge for the institutions, being a fertile ground for future research, especially in emerging countries where\ninstitutional voids are most evident...
This research aims (1) to investigate patterns and phenomena of entrepreneurship formation\nin Thai business families; (2) to investigate practices of parent (the founders/predecessors of\nthe business family) in nurturing and transferring entrepreneurship to their family members\n(successors); and (3) to build a model for nurturing and transferring entrepreneurship in Thai\nbusiness families. The Semi-structured interview was used for collecting data from key\ninformants who are potential successors of Thai business families. Eighteen potential family\nbusiness successors participated in the interview. The study revealed that entrepreneurship in\nthe Thai business families has been emerged since childhood developmental stages. The key\npractices of the Thai business families used for creating family entrepreneurship are: (1)\nParental role modeling; (2) Parental family business practices; and (3) Parental support.\nHowever, the study disclosed and indicated that the founder or predecessor should build the\nfamily infrastructure before implementing any key practices. In this regard, the intellectual\nand mental factors were found as key elements. According to the findings, to be effective,\nthese two factors must be created simultaneously....
Focusing on the anti-business logic behavior of state-owned enterprises controllers,\nthis paper finds that the behavior is characterized by lack of cost constraints,\ncontrol of commodity prices to make it lower than market equilibrium\nprice, stressing on scale while neglecting efficiency, etc., which causes\nconsequences of overcapacity in some state-owned enterprises, zombie enterprises,\nthe loss of state-owned assets, financial burdens for the state, and\nunequal market status for private enterprises. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of Strategy Management (ST) and\nBalanced Scorecard (BSC) on Organizational Performance (OP). Based on a theoretical\nfoundation and a wide review of the literature, the model of the research was proposed. 220\nQuestionnaires were distributed among random selected sample of Civil Defense departments\nin the Northern Emirates. 188 questionnaires were returned and used in the analysis using the\nPLS-SEM. The results of this study demonstrate that Strategy Management and Balanced\nScorecard have positive and significant effect on Organizational Performance. This study\nreflects the importance of the right implementation to the strategy management and BSC to\nhave successful performance.
