During recent years, public organizations have invested considerable resources in the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, even using solutions initially targeted for manufacturing companies. The interest generated by the ERP phenomenon in the public-sector still growing and the particularities of this sector make specific studies necessary. Just a few empirical studies have looked at public-sector motivations for ERP implementation and it appears from previous studies that organizational conditions of public and private organizations are different. This suggests that the reasons to implement ERP system may also differ. Consequently, the aim of this paper is to get an insight into how public organizations approach ERP implementation.\nBased on a survey of public organizations we try to identified and characterize the motivations that lead to the adoption of ERP systems, and to identify and understand modules adoption in the public-sector. Overall, our findings reveal that the need to increase the demand for real-time information, to obtain information for decision-making and the integration of applications appear as main reasons to implement an ERP system. The study also reveals that Financial Accounting and Material Management modules are the most implemented.\nThis paper reinforces the need for more research focused on public sector organizations. Since literature on ERP implementation on public-sector is relatively sparse, our paper helps to narrow this knowledge gap....
The purpose of this paper is to develop two price estimator functions and compare the performance and accurateness of them. After gathering mobile phone features from their manufacturersââ?¬â?¢ websites and their prices from ââ?¬Å?Donyaye-Eqtesadââ?¬Â newspaper, Hedonic regression and Artificial Neural Network models developed. The most effective feature of mobile phones in their prices are theirs brand, being touch screen, camera quality in mega pixel, battery life in calling and wireless network connectivity, and Also ANN model is better estimator than hedonic regression function.Because all of the mobile phones in the Iran market are imported from other countries, importers can import mobile phones that have those features that have more value to customers and reach a higher market share. The major contribution of this paper is specifying the most important determinants of mobile phone prices in the Iran market and comparing the two price estimator functions. This paper is of value to mobile phone importers, mobile phone manufactures, advertisers and pricing researchers....
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating\r\nmechanism whereby business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms. The concept of CSR has yet seemed to reach the businesses in emerging markets. Many firms are still exploiting these cheap labor markets with sweatshops, shady businesses and unethical conducts, with the most prominent example be Vedan Vietnams pollution of Thi Vai River, destroying the trust of local governments and people....
This paper investigates a Constant Relative Risk Aversion (CRRA) investor as a representative of pension plan participants, who has a finite investment horizon and is subject to the proportional transaction costs and a constant rate of return. We attempt to maximize the investor’s utility by trading between stock and money market account. A set of partial differential equations are derived and closed form solution proffered. The effects of the volatility of the risky asset are investigated. A zero value of the volatility resulted to the value function equals zero and its unit value with the drift parameter ξ equals the discount rate k (ξ=k ) led to the value function becoming indeterminate. Precise conditions are obtained which determine the growth rate of the value function in the sell and buy regions....
This contribution focuses on optimizing the layout of the two production lines for Daimler (hereinafter referred to as DA) and VW Group (hereinafter referred to as VAG) products in the company BOS Automotive Products ltd. The main reason for this optimization is the reduction of the spatial arrangement of the production hall with regard to the planned production. The aim of this study is to optimize the spatial arrangement of the CARGO LOADER (hereinafter referred to as CL) production hall, where storage systems for automobiles are produced on the Daimler and VW Group production lines....
In the world where information technology (IT) evolves at a rapid pace, the slightest lapses of acceptance of the latest development could mean a drawback for an organization. Information technology plays a vital role in various organizational activities. How well the information system (IS) perceived and integrated into organizational processes, hence, is the primary factor that influenced the level of effectiveness exists in IT use especially at different organizations. Subsequently, it is essential to review the models and theories to further understand the outcomes on perception of IT use in the organization. To optimize use of IT, the appropriate information system level must match the type of technology use on what users perceived. The purpose of this study is to review models and theories used in current research on perceptions of IT use and to understand the determinants on 6 key sectors in organization mainly business, government, education, manufacturing, healthcare and financial institution. The analysis consideration of these models and theories focuses on conceptual and empirical review with significant external variables. Findings indicated that technology acceptance model (TAM) theory, unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) theory and seven principles of good practice in undergraduate education theory are mostly used to examine the perception of IT use in the respective sectors in organization. Furthermore, the significant results shown these models are still relevant to current research. This literature study suggests constructive recommendation for future research work....
A major challenge facing the IT outsourcing industry is the high rate of turnover among IT professionals. Skilled and talented IT professionals are assets to organizations. When they leave, loses in the forms of human, knowledge, and social capital can be so substantial that it affects the operations of both vendors and their clients. Therefore, an important agenda for vendors is to understand the factors that will attract employees to stay with their current organizations so that effective retention programs can be formulated to keep the best IT employees productively engaged for a long-term. This paper adapts the Job Embeddedness Model to present a framework that identifies factors binding IT professionals to their current organizations. The framework captures the working environment of IT professionals in the IT outsourcing industry ââ?¬â?? where not only are they part of vendor organizations, but they are also highly enmeshed with client organizations....
