In the recent year various techniques of rectification is developing one of them is multi-pulse rectifier by using a zigzag transformer to meet the power quality requirement, for example, power factor, THD, form factor, etc. The three-phase multi-pulse AC - DC conversion system depends on the principle of a phase-shifting transformer and a 3 phase converter. With the help of every such rectification can get converted to a 6 pulses AC - DC, for producing higher sets of 6-pulse devices. Here, a uniform phase-shift is required and therefore by applying an adequate angle of phase-shifting such as 12, 18, 24, 30, 36 or higher pulse conversion. This has been used for feeding a load which requires non-sinusoidal voltage. By using this technique, with increase in number of pulses, the power quality gets improved gradually. Such types of converters are known as an isolated converter. It is because of the use of isolated transformer in this rectifier. Such forms of converters are generally used where high-voltage applications are required. In this paper, we have done a comparative study of higher pulses 3-phase AC-DC converters....
