The purpose of this study was to find the attributes which played an influencing role for employees to\r\nfollow the safety programs voluntarily, as the success of any safety program will depend upon the\r\nemployees awareness and willingness to participate in the program. This exploratory research was\r\nconducted among employees in India to test the relationship between antecedents and consequences;\r\nand safety behavior of the employees. The researchers used statistical inference, more precisely binary\r\nlogistic regression to test the relationship between the variables. Results indicated that both\r\nantecedents and consequences have an influencing role on the safety behavior of the employees. The\r\nmethod of implementation and post implementation monitoring constituted the antecedents. Similarly,\r\nknowledge of accidents and involvement in accidents constituted the consequences. As the data for\r\nthis research through structured questionnaire was collected directly from blue collar workers in\r\nvarious manufacturing industries across India, it provided first-hand information on relationship\r\nbetween antecedents and consequences; and safety behavior of the employees....
The scale of work of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in Pakistan has drastically increased in\r\nthe last few years due to man-made and natural disasters. These disasters have brought huge funding\r\ninto Pakistan for implementation of emergency, relief and rehabilitation projects implemented by\r\nGovernment, United Nations, Population Welfare Department, International and Local NGOs. Effective\r\nImplementation of these projects was not possible without transformational leaders that could promote\r\nethical values within organizations and contribute for increasing employee performance through their\r\nsupportive role. Researchers have focused on linkage of transformational leadership with ethical\r\nleadership. This study focused on how leadership qualities and organizational culture support\r\nemployee performance. This study also analyzes how ethical leadership plays a mediating role between\r\norganizational culture and despotic leadership. In order to test the research hypotheses, this study\r\nused structural equation model (SEM) technique. Stratified random sampling was used and data were\r\ncollected from 377 management staff of local and International NGOs working in Pakistan. The study\r\nhas found positive and significant relationship among transformational leadership, organizational\r\nculture, ethical leadership and employee performance. The study further found negative relationship\r\nbetween ethical leadership and despotic leadership. The study findings are important for NGOs in\r\npromoting ethical values in organizations contributing to employee performance....
The role of an employee is considered as one of the crucial factor in delivering the service as promised by the brand. An effort is made with the help of this paper on existing insights through practitioners and customers perspectives. An empirical study has been undertaken with employees. Therefore, this study aims to reveal the perceptions of employees towards their role and the techniques to enable them for the fulfillment of brand promise. A case-study method is taken with a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. In-depth interviews reveal that employees feel that their actions are vital to the brand and findings from a survey of 120 respondents reveals positive relationships among internal branding instruments and their brand promise delivery. These influence the employees brand attitudes, namely brand identification, brand commitment and brand loyalty. Finally, these attitudes also influence the manner in which employees deliver the service. Hence, internal branding not only directly influences the extent to which employees perform their role in relation to the brand promise, but also influences the attitudes employees have towards the brand, which in turn affects employee performance....
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of leadership style on the affective commitment \r\nto change, moderated by the organisational culture. The research adopts both qualitative and \r\nquantitative approaches through a survey with 371 employees of public organisations in Yemen, as \r\nwell as interviews with the managers. The findings showed that the transformational leadership \r\nwas positively related to the employees affective commitment to change; similar to the \r\ntransactional leadership that was positively related to the affective commitment to change. The \r\nresults showed that organisational culture had positively moderated the relationship between the \r\nleadership styles and employee affective commitment to change. Finally, the findings revealed that \r\nthe transactional leadership was a strong predictor to affective commitment to change compared \r\nwith the transformational leadership....
Over the past few years, an economic crisis of global proportions has affected all aspects of our lives.\nJobs are less secure, work demands are greater, and therefore, effective stress management is crucial\nto the success of any business. The aim of this study was to identify the stress levels experienced at\nwork by Slovene middle-level managers; the frequency of stress symptoms among Slovene managers;\nstress-coping strategies applied, and gender differences in terms of the intensity of stress symptoms\nexperienced. Altogether, 85 middle-level managers from Slovene enterprises of random choice\nparticipated in this study. The obtained data was processed with SPSS 16.0 and analysed by means of\ndescriptive statistics, frequency distribution, t-test and Pearson correlation data processing statistic\nmethods. The managers who participated in this research all had a huge workload and experienced\ntheir work to be on average stressful. They used strategies focused on a specific problem in order to\ncope with problem situations effectively....
According to the competency characteristics of human resources manager, this paper proposes a new\r\ncompetency evaluation method of human resources manager based on linguistic variables grey relation\r\nprojection model. To begin with, the evaluation index system based on the competency of human\r\nresources manager is constructed, and the linguistic variables set and its operational rules are defined.\r\nThen, the evaluation information from different experts is aggregated to the comprehensive evaluation\r\nvalue, and the weighted gray relation projection values of each evaluation object associated with the\r\npositive ideal solution and negative ideal solution are calculated. Furthermore, the evaluation objects\r\nare ranked based on the relative closeness coefficient. Finally, this paper gives the decision making\r\nsteps and verifies the effectiveness of this method by a practical example from a company, and the\r\npractical example shows that this method is easy to use....
In the present essay we analyse first the emergence of property and individual rights and the theory of a social contract in Classical Greece. We argue that property and individual rights emerged within a democratic macroculture which had as elements 1) the emergence of a new type of a heavy infantry warrior, the hoplite and a new battle formation, the phalanx, 2) religion 3) the athletic games 4) the city-state environment. Contrary to the re-emergence of the theory of social contract during the 18th century European Enlightenment, in Ancient Athens the practice of direct democracy antedated the theory of social contract. We then analyse the practical implementation of a social contract in 4th century Athens through decision making by citizens based on rational choice according to economic considerations....
Performance is a key indicator to judge a project teams success or failure. In addition to baseline such\r\nas quality, cost, time and scope that represent project performance, other factors can also improve\r\nproject performance. This study believes personality balance in a project management team is one of\r\nthe important factors contributing to overall project performance. Therefore, this study intends to\r\ndevelop an approach to measure the impact of personality balance on project performance among\r\nproject management team members. A mathematical model is proposed to measure the personality\r\nbalance in a project team and to verify the effectiveness of this model; one case is simulated in this\r\nstudy. From the results, it is observed a project team conforming to an ideal team structure performs\r\nbetter. Further, if the personality balance in a project management team is adjusted to the best possible,\r\nthe project management team could perform even better. Therefore, it is concluded the proposed model\r\ncan help management measure the level of personality balance in a project and therefore, improve\r\noverall project performance....
