The educational research has been continuously and effectively benefitting from the Machine Learning techniques since its emergence. Among others it included the multiple regression which is a multivariate technique used to determine the correlation that may exist between a dependent variable and a combination of multiple predictor variables. This paper presents a multiple linear regression model to analyze students’ final grades in four mathematics courses and their correlation with the response variable, the CGPA. The outcome shows that students’ performance in mathematics courses may affect their overall performance in a university degree program. Finally, the study recommends that higher education institutions and faculties are required to work collaboratively and hard towards adopting learnercentered teaching methodologies for improving students’ performance in mathematics....
This paper presents results of the systematic literature review conducted on the topic of human resources information systems. As the current situation is commonly reffered to as the era of fourth industrial revolution, special emphasize was put on the influence of the technologies of this revolution on the human resources information systems. Literature review was based on the methodology consisting of six successive steps, which allowed the authors of this paper to identify, classify and analyse academic papers dealing with the human resources information systems from the last five years. Five main topics and nineteen subtopics were identified in the content of the investigated papers. Technologies related to the fourth industrial revolution occurred among these topics rather rarely, mostly represented by the web-based, cloud-hosted systems and by the analysis of big data. Therefore, the systematic literature review as well as the following analysis shows that the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution have not been in the center of the discussion regarding the human resources information systems so far. It also means that there definitely exists a research gap in this field, open for future studies....
The fifth industrial revolution brings in massive advantages, providing candidates with a more personalized experience in their job search. Industry 5.0 recognizes the power of industry in achieving societal goals beyond jobs and growth to become a resilient provider of prosperity by directing production towards respecting the boundaries of our planet and placing the wellbeing of the industry worker at the center of the production process. Contrary to the trends in Industry 4.0 toward technology, dehumanization, technological advancement and innovation best practices, Industry 5.0 will bend back toward serving humanity. At workplaces, this industrial revolution will shed greater light on the human intelligence than ever. The challenge now is to examine the influence of soft skills to enhance the workforce in order to prepare them for Industry 5.0. Emotional intelligence is a soft skill. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on enhancing the workforce for Industry 5.0. A total of 110 executives took part in this study. Findings suggest that emotional intelligence does influence the workforce to perform better. Emotional recognition and expression and emotions direct cognition were found to have a greater impact on the performance....
This paper’s aim is to study the leadership styles practiced in Catalan SMEs during the COVID- 19 pandemic. The research focuses on three leadership styles (autocratic/transactional, democratic/transformational and laissez-faire/liberal) and how these styles are influenced by Hofeste’s cultural dimension and other variables such as the SMEs’ maturity level and the respondents’ gender. Moreover, our paper studies the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic upon the Catalan business environment, discussing the government restrictions and aid measures. The research has been conducted in an empirical way, on a sample of 164 SMEs from Catalonia, Spain. Our results have shown that most of the respondents from this sample employ a democratic/ transformational leadership style and this style is influenced in a direct and positive way by the company’s maturity and, at the same time, we found no significant correlation between the leadership style and the respondents’ gender....
The growing interest in virtual and augmented reality applied to business leads companies to explore possible applications in several management areas. The application of virtual and augmented reality to human resources management and development is also underway. Despite this growing trend, there is a lack of scientifically grounded information on what is being done, how, and the results. This research aims to fill this gap by mapping the scientific knowledge regarding virtual and augmented reality in human resources management and development. To accomplish this goal, we undertook a systematic literature review following the six main steps of the research protocol: 1) formulation of the research question; 2) definition of objectives for the systematic review; 3) description of inclusion criteria; 4) research strategy; 5) selection procedure; 6) procedure for data extraction and categorization. The findings were analyzed based on two main groups of categories. The first group reports categories related to the document description; the second group is focused on the potential use and impact of virtual and augmented reality in human resources management and development processes. The results show that virtual and augmented reality in human resources management and development is still in a very early stage, requiring more in-depth research. The results so far are promising, namely in terms of the impact that this technology can produce in some human resources management and development processes. Future paths of research are also pointed out....
