We investigate whether the determinants of small and medium enterprises’ (SMEs) trade credits taken for purchasing fixed assets suffered substantial changes due to the global financial crisis (GFC). *e geographical focus of this paper covers 18 former Eastern bloc countries. *e data sample comprises opinions of the SMEs top managers relative to the trade credit financing. *e two-step Heckman procedure is applied to study complexity of the trade credit determinants. We find that before the GFC the equity concentration and inflation have negatively impacted the trade credit while foreign ownership and company’s longevity have had a positive effect. *e GFC has changed this complex relationship. We evidence that, after the GFC, equity concentration and state subsidies have a positive effect....
Despite the importance of information technology (IT) to the knowledge management process, many studies found that the usage of IT in the knowledge management process has not been very successful mainly because of the improper utilization and integration of IT into the knowledge management. Hence, this study proposes a theoretical framework for using information technology tools (cloud computing, online conferencing, and mobile technology) to enhance th knowledge management process (knowledge sharing and knowledge application). The theoretical framework included organization culture as a mediator between the usage of information technology tools and the knowledge management process....
Innovation is vital for an outstanding performance and over the top results. It is a complex concept with multiple perspectives which should be always situated in the center of attention. For creating the premises of a successful innovation, its measurement and impact should be analyzed both on the theoretical level as well as on the practical dimensions of the industrial organizations. The measurement of the organizational innovation allows the contouring of a general framework and the determination of the actual values, followed by the quantification of the results and the identification of the relevant indicators, the development being measured in a constant manner. The chosen indicators need to be comprehensive, covering the financial and non-financial area, having numerical and nonnumerical values that allow the mirroring of the situation and of the achievements. Organizational innovation attracts a superior performance from the perspective of high returns offered to the stakeholders, together with a general development of the business performance while the innovation measurement systems come with an accelerated improvement of the results....
The digital economy comes with a sloping topography, is inclusive, and offers equal opportunities. This characteristic has the concept of competition which becomes the spirit of the industry that is easily lifted by SMEs players and Start-Ups who prioritize collaboration and synergy. Therefore, to face the challenges as well as opportunities that come simultaneously brought about by the presence of the digital economy and the pandemic situation, it is very important for SMEs to understand the environmental conditions and existing ecosystems, where a digital-based entrepreneurial ecosystem is something that is mandatory for the existence of SMEs. A new platform-based ecosystem framework, also known as the Digital Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (DEE) is proposed which integrates two separate but related ecosystem literature, namely the digital ecosystem and the entrepreneurial ecosystem. This new framework places platform-based ecosystems within the broader context of users, agents, infrastructure and institutions, so that two biotic entities (users and agents) drive individual agency, while two abiotic components (digital technology and digital institutions) make up the external environment. The purpose of writing this article is to get an overview of the concept of the Digital Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (DEE) by using a literature study research method. This article will be built and constructed based on empirical research that has been done, mapping articles and related studies to be able to provide an overview of the DEE concept for SMEs in North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The management of four sub-indexes of DEE, namely Digital Tech-nology Infrastructure, Digital User Citizenship, Digital Multi-sided Platform, and Digital Technology Entrepreneurship, is the key to improving the SMEs in North Sulawesi, Indonesia....
This paper shows the importance of the knowledge components in the DDMKCC (Data-Dialog- Management-Knowledge-Communication-Creativity) model as the catalyst of hybrid DSS in the context of BI system implementation in a chosen IT company. The DDMKCC model is described based on the theoretical research and a literature review. The paper describes the primary attributes of the DDMKCC model paradigm, with a special focus on knowledge-based process management due to the hybrid DSS. The study supports the thesis that BI systems can siginficantly help improve and develop the knowledge component in knowledge-based organizations. The case study is based on a Polish IT company. The results highlight the background for implementing the knowledge component in hybrid DSS in DDMKCC models. The research findigs were described in three areas: 1) The knowledge component with the DDMKCC model in BI system implementation in an IT company, 2) The kind of information technology to improve the knowledge acquisition in the DDMKCC model implemeneted in the BI system in an IT company, and 3) The enterprise information portals of BI system improvement in an IT company. Owing to the literature review and the ongoing research, the paper concludes that the use of BI systems can largely enhance the development of the knowledge component in DSS environments. Future efforts should concentrate on the use of AI and Big Data software to improve human-computer interaction in creativity support, modeling and simulation contexts, further exploring different approaches and applicable technologies: Big Data, mobile technologies, etc. Advanced computer algorithms have already proven to be capable of delivering better decisions than human decision makers, hence, more and more of them are finding multiple applications in effective business solutions....
