This article forms part of the result of a doctoral study on business enterprises focusing on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kenya. The primary aim was to critically investigate the management factors affecting performance of MSMEs in Kenya. The findings reveal that the critical management factors critical to the different categories of enterprises differed in MSMEs. In recent decades with increasing of global economic competition, small scale industries have known as an economic growth engine and a tool for employment so they have important role in growth and development of countries. The importance small scale industries of is its need more investment for their survival and competition capability than big firms to new products and processes. Therefore, small scale industries are a potential resource for achieving new ideas and innovation. Previous studies on science and technology parks' performance in the most of countries demonstrate the effective and positive roles of these institutions in entrepreneurship, technology and economical development, increasing technological innovation and employment. This paper investigates the innovation in small scale industries which is settled in science parks of Iran. The primary data collected from questionnaire and has been analyzed through using SPSS version 16 software. Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), accounting for 99.3% of all Chinese corporations, create enormous economic fortune and employment opportunity. This paper gives the definition of small and medium enterprise growth risk, and analyzes its content and categories in reviewing the relevant theoretical literature, points out the main features of growth risk of SMEs from five aspects,builds its mechanism model, and thinks the growth risk of SMEs is associated with the growth rate, its development in three stages of the potential risk, the actual occurrence and the impact. At the same time,this paper gives the risk management tactics of SMEs from the risk management objectives, procedures, control capability and so on,and specifically points out that small and medium enterprises should attach great importance to growth risks and seize growth opportunities to correctly handle the scale of development and sustainability issues, adventurous, and growth in risk management....
Strategy is considered to be a detailed plan for a business in achieving success. Managers employ strategy to achieve result. Strategic management practices and organization performance in small business enterprises {SBEs} goes together, but most Small business enterprises place less emphasis on making effective strategy for improved performance. This paper examines the influence of strategic management on corporate performance in selected small scale enterprises in Lagos, Nigeria. The paper also provides how strategy could be used for improved performance of small scale enterprise in Nigeria. Two hypotheses were tested. They are to determine whether: {i} there is a significant relationship between strategic management and organizational profitability; {ii} there is a significant relationship between strategic management and company market share. Cross sectional survey research method was adopted for the study and 140 participants were randomly selected among SSEs in Lagos metropolis. Pearson product moment coefficient of correlation and descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. Findings revealed that strategic management practices enhance both organizational profitability and company market share. The study recommends that investors and managers should make use of strategic management to improve their organizations actual performance at all times....
New SMEs are very important to the economy of South Africa. Their failure rate at about 75% is one the highest in the world. Lack of finance is one of the primary reasons for the failure of new SMEs in South Africa. About 75% of all applications for bank credit by new SMEs are rejected. This objective of the paper was to investigate the determinants of credit approval for new SMEs. The survey method and self-administered questionnaires were used for data collection. 445 respondents took part in the survey. Data was analysed by logistic regression. The results indicate that managerial competencies, business information, networking, location, crime, business size and incorporation are significant determinants of credit approval....
The article analyses the women participation in SMEs business. The rapid absorption of women into the labor market has been influenced by several factors. The rapid economic growth was due largely to important growth in the SMEs business, where substantial and proportionally larger increase of female workers has been registered. Among all sectors of the economy, the SMEs have recorded the highest growth rate during the last decade. The increase in the female labor force participation in SMES business may also be attributable to improving economic incentives in employment and policies favoring the employment of women. In addition, the combined effects of increased years of schooling, access to family planning services, improved maternal and child care, leading to arise in the average age at marriage, have allowed women to take advantage of the increased employment opportunities. Survey was conducted from 300 women in SMEs business in rural Sindh by using simple random technique from four districts Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kandhkot/Kashmore and Larkana Districts.\r\n \r\nQuestionnaire was the basic tool to find out the major challenges of rural women as an entrepreneur business. It was revealed that there is great potential of rural women I doing the various entrepreneur business like in Kandhkot, Jacobabad, Rali, Ajrak and Sindhi caps they are very much unique and they were generating income from there families. It was further revealed that the rural women is less confident and their husbands were always given them hard time once they are exposing them selves to out side the boundaries of the house. The biggest challenges which they were facing they were doing all business in house, lack of marketing facilities, Karo Kari criminal activities and they were deprived from the basic rights.
