The current crisis has deeply affected worlds economies, reviving both debates and budgetary\r\nconsolidation efforts in order to stabilize them and resume the upward trend. Although based\r\non some commonly accepted theoretical backgrounds, governments action was differently\r\nconceived in various countries, in relation to their stage of development and their\r\nparticularities, the targeted goals and the vision of their leaders. However, a strategic approach\r\nwas required in all cases. From this perspective, our work proposes an analysis of the budgetary\r\nconsolidation measures adopted and implemented in EU countries (considering their preconsolidation\r\nsituation), trying to highlight the existence of a strategic approach, by reference to\r\naccepted scientific ideas. For our analysis we used data officially reported by Eurostat, Ameco\r\nand the Romanian authorities. Our conclusions are to some extent limited by the lack of data for\r\nthe analysis of the profile, and impact of budgetary consolidation strategies, as official statistical\r\ndatabases do not contain all necessary information, particularly as regards the structure of\r\ncyclically adjusted revenues and expenditures and that of overall revenues and expenditures for\r\n2012. The main findings of our research indicate that the institutional commitments undertaken\r\nby public authorities before the crisis prefigure and enhance their budgetary consolidation\r\nactions; a strategic preference of the authorities for acting through indirect taxes was found on\r\nthe side of public revenues, while for public expenditures the concern for a smart budgetary\r\nconsolidation could not be fully confirmed....
Despite the fact that in the times of global crisis everything is about survival, the welfare is still\r\nan important matter for people. In this paper we propose to calculate a representative\r\nquantitative indicator for welfare for the 27 state members of the European Union in order to\r\nestablish certain connections between the level of welfare and some factors of influence like,\r\nGDP, education, long learning public expenditure, unemployment and vulnerable employment.\r\nOur approach underlines once more that the outcome of research and development activity, of\r\neducation and long learning and also of social care protection improves the sustainability of\r\nwelfare for every nation. There is a positive correlation between the new welfare indicator and\r\nsome of the indicators mentioned above. Nevertheless, the effects of those factors arent\r\nimmediate and this fact is reflected in the number of lags for each exogenous variable taking\r\ninto analysis.\r\nIn order to connect to the current economic problems such as high level of unemployment, that\r\nthe most member states in the European Union are facing we tested the relationship between\r\nwelfare and unemployment rate and the results sustain the assumption of a negative\r\ncorrelation between them....
Much research has examined Akerlofââ?¬â?¢s ââ?¬Å?lemonsââ?¬Â problem, however, very little has addressed\r\nconvergence to a Spence signaling equilibrium. We examine this convergence issue by testing\r\nwhether the explained variance in wine prices for California Cabernet Sauvignon improves as\r\nthe same set of wines progress through subsets of consecutive years. The data are from Wine\r\nSpectator and organized in subsets of common wines for 2004 to 2005, 2003 to 2005, 2002 to\r\n2005, and 2001 to 2005. We perform regressions of wine price on quality attributes for each\r\nyear in each data subset. Using the R-square and mean square error from these regressions, we\r\nthen perform a trend analysis to examine the factors influencing the improvement of the Rsquare\r\nthrough each year and each wine subset. We find that position or year in the wine\r\nsubset is a significant determinant of goodness of fit after accounting for year and sample\r\naffects. This result, while not conclusive, may suggest some degree of wine price convergence\r\nwithin these subsets of wines....
This study examined how Lorestans decorative stone exporters can play an international role in the\r\nworld market. The study is a field study and the population consists of all of the Lorestans stone firms.\r\nLorestan is one of the biggest stone exporter provinces of Iran. For this reason, a simple random\r\nsampling technique was used to select the respondents surveyed for this study, a total of 101\r\nquestionnaires were administered to respondents chosen from about all 130 of the province stone firm\r\nmanagers and their vice presidents; statistical tools were used to test the hypothesis such as: T\r\nstudent (to determine whether there was a significant difference between the average of the population\r\nand that of the sample) and Chi square (to review the lack of significant differences between the\r\nobserved frequency and expected frequency of tests). To gather information, library resources,\r\nquestionnaires and interviews were used. To test research questions, six hypotheses with a conceptual\r\nmodel were designed to examine the relationship between the key success factors and the exports of\r\nthe stone firms. Assumptions in the study, all with 95% confidence were accepted. The findings\r\nindicated that there was a significant positive relationship between KSFs and successful market entry.\r\nThe study also showed that services and distribution channels had respectively the most and the least\r\neffects on successful market entry for Lorestans firms producing decorative stones....
Information Technology (IT) governance has\r\nrisen in importance in recent years, driven by various\r\ntrends in IT development. With rapid growth in the\r\ncountry and the globalization of the IT sector, there is\r\ngrowing interest in IT governance in Malaysia. This study\r\naims to explore whether IT practitioners with different\r\njob functions, education levels, education areas of\r\nspecialization, certifications and experience levels have\r\ndifferent perceptions of IT governance effectiveness in\r\ntheir organization. The results reveal differences in\r\nperceived IT governance effectiveness between different\r\njob function groups, but not between groups with\r\ndifferent education levels, certification or experience\r\nlevels. The findings for education area of specialization\r\nare not conclusive. The findings of this study will help IT\r\nmanagers to identify areas of focus to maximize\r\neffectiveness of IT governance initiatives through their IT\r\nstaff. The implications of the findings are discussed at the\r\nend of the paper....
